Individuals who embark on therapy with a Family Therapist benefit from exploring personal issues through psychotherapy as well as from a relational perspective. This means that one gains an understanding of how his or her relationships effect and are effected by personal challenges.
Couples who have been together for 5 months or 50 years can benefit from relationship therapy as they gain insight into each other's unique perspective. Improved communication can restore even the most broken relationships.
Families in every stage of development and transition benefit from the understanding gained in counseling. Improved communication and straightforward interventions can bring resolutions to problems that cause daily frustration, anxiety, and even heartache and feelings of hopelessness.
Christine DiGennaro is a relationship specialist and psychoanalyst who applies a solution oriented perspective in her work as a therapist. With a BS in Biology and MBA, she has worked locally in healthcare administration for many years. After a life long pursuit of knowledge regarding personal growth, she embarked on a certification in Life Coaching with the intention of opening a private practice. With four young sons at home, she began to understand the complexities of the academic, emotional, social, and spiritual challenges that could lie ahead for them. She became overwhelmed by a desire to gain knowledge that would be essential for them and others to navigate these challenges successfully. Coaching training was intriguing but she found it to be inadequate for purposes of guiding adolescents and their families through the struggles that they commonly encounter. She pursued a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from North Central University in California. She achieved NYS licensure as she worked as an independent therapist at Long Island's Sunrise Counseling Center. Christine has a profound desire to listen and to assist people, couples, and families in gaining perspective on the past in order to bring understanding, peace, and success to the present and future. Through her education, ongoing training, personal experience and ethics, she drives the progress of Healthy Minds Counseling.
